  • Russian-American History Walking Tour - Overview

Welcome to the Russian American History Downtown Audio Tour, provided by Sitka National Historical Park. There are five stops included in this tour: the Russian Bishop’s House, St. Michael’s Cathedral, Building 29, the reconstructed blockhouse, and Castle Hill.  From start to finish, this is about a half mile of walking, mostly along Lincoln Street. The blockhouse is located off Lincoln Street, via Barracks Street, and does require climbing a few steps and walking up a small grassy hill for close-up viewing. The top of Castle Hill can be accessed by a set of approximately 70 stairs off of Lincoln Street, or by ramp from Harbor Drive. More detailed instructions to reach each stop will be described in each audio section.
